Jan M. Alafriz is an associate within the real estate, condominium law, and transactional law practice group at Zeldes, Needle & Cooper P.C., and is a resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office. Jan assists in the representation of individuals and businesses in a variety of personal and commercial matters, including purchases and sales of residential and commercial properties, contract drafting, and collections.

Jan earned his B.A. from Wright State University in 2012. He earned his J.D. (Cum Laude) from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2017, where he was a member of, and served as historian for, the Phi Delta Phi legal honors society and Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. While at law school, Jan also served as an Assistant Tennis Coach of the Quinnipiac University Men’s Tennis team and a research assistant for Professor Kevin Barry, where he helped develop an attorney resource website based on the Americans with Disabilities Act, which focused on helping those who have been wrongfully terminated or discriminated against because of their disabilities.

Prior to coming to Zeldes, Needle & Cooper P.C., Jan worked in talent management, focusing on all aspects of athlete talent representation, including contract review and drafting, and negotiation of sponsorship agreements.

A life-long tennis lover, Jan stays involved in the sport as much as possible. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors for two tennis-related non-profits. On The Rise Foundation, a Toronto, Canada-based non-profit which he co-founded in 2021 as a way to support exceptional junior tennis players and help them achieve their goal of becoming professional tennis players, and Grassroots Tennis & Education, a Fairfield County-based non-profit offering free, year-round tennis instruction and tutoring to children in Norwalk and Stamford.

Jan grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada but now lives in New Haven County with his wife, daughter, and dog. When he’s not working, Jan enjoys cooking, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, and playing tennis.
